About the 2026 Stock Market Holiday List

India's stock market holidays are published annually by each exchange. NSE and BSE — the two equity exchanges — share an almost identical equity holiday list since both are based in Mumbai and regulated by SEBI. MCX, the country's primary commodity exchange, runs extended evening hours and treats some festival days as partial holidays where only the morning session closes.

On top of declared trading holidays, all three exchanges are closed every Saturday and Sunday in 2026. The single annual exception is Diwali Muhurat Trading, when a special evening session opens regardless of the day of the week. Settlement cycles, derivative expiries, and physical-delivery commodity contracts skip declared holidays.
